Movement Screens
Learning ‘how’ you are moving is crucial for return to sport
Movement screens are used to effectively assess motion, whether it’s to establish a baseline of performance, measure progress in rehabilitation or identify potential areas of weakness that could lead to future injury.
Our approach with athletes is objective and data-driven throughout prehabilitation and rehabilitation, allowing us to track:
- Movement patterns
- Biomechanics
- Stability
- Mobility
That data assists our trained physical therapists in designing personalized plans of care, which can get you back to your sport more quickly and effectively.
Minimizing injury risks
Although there always will be inherent injury risks in playing sports, functional movement screens can provide insights into an athlete’s musculoskeletal weaknesses before injuries occur.
By accessing that information early, we can:
- Create individualized exercise and strengthening strategies to fortify those weaknesses, which improve your chances of minimizing serious injuries.
- Close those gaps — whether it’s with speed, strength or balance — to improve performance once you return to sport.
Leaning on technology
We use various pieces of advanced technology during treatment, including dorsaVi, a motion-capturing system that assesses movement-quality and patterns. By analyzing the “how,” we can best determine where you are on your rehabilitation journey.
Specific equipment may differ by location, so contact your local center and ask to talk with a physical therapist about what advanced rehabilitation technology is used there.
