Parkinson’s Program

More than 1.5 million Americans are living with Parkinson’s disease*

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that impacts an individual’s motor skills, speech and cognitive function. Often characterized by the presence of tremors, PD may present a wide range of challenges including:

  • Rigidity or stiffness in the limbs
  • Posture and balance problems
  • Fatigue
  • Speech/swallowing impairments
  • Mood swings
  • Memory loss
  • Writing changes and slowed movement

At HealthWorks Rehab & Fitness, our experienced therapists offer a comprehensive rehabilitation program to enhance the well-being of those with PD. No matter the stage of PD, we will develop an individualized treatment program that minimizes deficits, improves and/or maintains current function and maximizes health and quality of life. We will also provide education and community resources that may be beneficial.

What our comprehensive program means for you

We offer LSVT BIG™, an evidence-based treatment program specific to PD.

LSVT BIG™ improves the amplitude or “bigness” of limb and body movement to help provide a stronger, more efficient gait, better balance and flexibility – and applies these skills to daily activities. From getting up from the sofa to buttoning a shirt, we will help you maintain your independence.

Patients are given daily exercises to practice and a home exercise program to build on the gains made during in-center care.
