Outreach

HealthWorks Rehab & Fitness is dedicated to helping individuals reach their goals, feel better about themselves, and stay in shape. We take great pride in our staff, facilities, educational programs, our ability to provide an excellent learning atmosphere for numerous students, and our active role in the community.

HealthWorks’ Morgantown Clinic is a Partner-in-Education with North Elementary School, of Morgantown, WV. HealthWorks values education and encourages children to learn the importance of fitness and nutrition. HealthWorks also strives to support North Elementary teachers and administrators by providing various activities and services for the students and staff of North Elementary. Last year, HealthWorks conducted demonstrations for North Elementary students on various health-related topics and provided bagels and massages for the staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. HealthWorks also provided ergonomic assessments for North Elementary’s Support Staff. We enjoy displaying student artwork throughout the clinic and look forward to being entertained by the students’ musical productions during the school year. The Gold Star Award 2003 was presented to North Elementary and HealthWorks Rehab & Fitness for exemplary school-business partnerships.

HealthWorks Rehab & Fitness is also a clinical affiliation site for West Virginia University programs along with numerous other colleges and universities. Students in programs such as Exercise Physiology, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Family Medicine, and Medical Programs come to HealthWorks as part of their educational rotation. HealthWorks Rehab & Fitness provides these students hands-on experience while working with our treatment teams in a clinical therapy setting. Currently, we are affiliating with WVU and the University of Indianapolis and have also recently had students from Alderson-Broaddus College. We are also affiliated with Physical Therapy Assistant programs from Fairmont State College and Allegany College of Maryland. HealthWorks prides itself in being an educational facility and encourages students to gain the most from their college education.

HealthWorks not only cares about students gaining knowledge, but also encourages staff members to stay educated. HealthWorks provides employees with the opportunity to gain some of their Continuing Education Units by attending seminars and conferences held in our clinics. HealthWorks also makes it possible for staff members to stay current on topics related to their field by regularly attending quality Continuing Education courses that are worthwhile to the employee and the treatment of their patients.

If you attend any area high school sporting events, you will see a HealthWorks Athletic Trainer on the scene. HealthWorks provides Nationally Certified Athletic Trainers who provide daily athletic training coverage to eight area high schools, including Morgantown, University, East Fairmont, Fairmont Senior, North Marion, Albert Gallatin, Clay-Battelle, and Grafton High Schools. We will also be adding another school, Buckhannon-Upshur High School, to the list this upcoming academic year and we look forward to being able to serve them as well as the other schools. Outreach Athletic Training coverage is also provided by HealthWorks for Trinity High School of Morgantown, WV. In addition to high school outreach coverage, HealthWorks takes part in various events in our community throughout the year. We provide Athletic Training services for various local youth soccer tournaments as well as other locally sponsored events, such as the Charlie Weber Basketball Invitational and the Betty Puskar Futures Golf Classic, just to name a few.
